If you change an image enough you can call them your own – and that does not mean changing the colors or shuffling the parts around a bit, it means changing it so it is unrecognizable as the original.
You may freely use and change them for personal work and (non-commercial, non-saleable) projects, art work, scrapbook pages etc.
You may use them as elements within a finished (commercial) projects – websites, posters, packaging, cards, reports, magazine illustration, business cards, software user interfaces, branding… etc. … basically graphic design. – That is, so long as the file is an element of the overall design (your design) and not the whole or larger part of the design, then you may use it in commercial projects. In other words I am only giving away tools and ideas – not doing your job for you!! or to put it another way; my images can be a part of your software/project/advertising design/web design/etc.., so long as you aren’t selling the images themselves or using them as the ‘main’ image on a salable product.

Obviously, in some cases (advertising designs for example) it is not practical to do this, in which case that is fine. Please find some other way of linking back to this site (for example, place a link on the links and resources page of your studio homesite).
